Which Peruvian cacao for your ceremony?

Soft and sweet, silky and floral, or wild and herbal: how to choose a Peruvian cacao that fits your ceremony.

For a soft, sweet, heart-opening cup, choose a white-bean cacao from Piura: Piura White, Chulucanas or Salitral. They are low in bitterness and lovely for people new to ceremonial cacao.

For a floral, silky cup with deep roots, choose Chuncho from Cusco. Its high cacao butter gives a creamy, grounding drink.

For something wilder and more herbal, try the central jungle origins: VRAE, Satipo, Pangoa or Tsiriari.

For a cacao with a strong community story, look for Awajún, where women lead, or VRAE, where cacao replaced coca.
